According to CSI Files sources, the second episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's ninth season will be called "The Happy Place". The episode opens with Sprig Greniger in her apartment at night. She's making a roast, but she's munching on a carrot at the same time. She's thin and pretty and seems to be in a happy mood as she hums, the news playing on the television in the background. Sprig roasts the meat in the oven and then starts to eat her own dinner: a crappy, microwave diet meal. Her cell phone rings and she moves to answer it. A short time later, Sprig goes into her bedroom and gets undressed, reaching for a new bikini on a hanger and ripping off the price tags. She puts it on and admires herself in front of the mirror--clearly, she sees flaws that other people wouldn't see. Sprig walks out of the bedroom, a dreamy look on her face as she drags a beach towel behind her. She wanders past the television as a weatherman tells viewers the next day will be in the triple digits. Opening the door, Sprig steps out onto the balcony and looks at the city lights sparkling against the dark backdrop of the night sky. Meanwhile, on the street below, a city bus is chugging along. A young man finally gives in to the glares he's getting from a group of women. He stands up and offers his seat to the oldest woman, who takes it and smiles. The young man is feeling pretty good about himself, but suddenly there's a loud crash. The bus is jarred and the young man loses his balance. The ceiling of the bus bows and windows shatter as something lands on the roof with tremendous force. Outside the bus, it becomes obvious what landed on the roof. Sprig is sprawled on the metal in her bikini, dead but beautiful. Nick and Catherine work the case. They need to figure out why a bubbly young woman who was about to get married would take a swan dive. Their case gets more interesting when they find out that Sprig was fired from her job at a bank for stealing $10,000. They also learn that she was undergoing hypnosis to lose weight in order to look her best in her wedding dress. Meanwhile, Grissom and Brass look into the brutal death of Diana Bonfilio. Her head was bashed against the pavement in an alley, and her eyes were gouged in. The case gets more frantic when they find out she had her two-year-old daughter with her when she died. Sara is still in town, and she goes to visit an old friend, Thomas Adler. Thomas first appeared in "Too Tough to Die" during the show's first season. His wife Pam was raped, beaten and shot, but she survived. She's been in a vegetative state for all these years, and Thomas finally pulled the plug. He tells Sara he prayed every week for God to end his wife's suffering. Meanwhile, the entire team must deal with their grief over Warrick's loss. Nick even imagines that he sees his old friend on the street, but it's merely a stranger.

When we last saw CSI, the forensic drama Warrick was shot and left for dead by Undersheriff McKeen. The shocking finale left fans shocked and distressed over the long wait they have to endure before the next season airs. While we already know that Warrick's portrayer, Gary Dourdan, will be leaving the CBS series, we are still not quite sure how this audio-video analyst will exit the canvas.

Judging from season 8's last scene, many viewers are likely to think that Warrick will actually die. However, CSI boss Carol Mendelsohn has hinted in the latest issue of TV Guide that Warrick will be back in the fall and "not just in flashbacks."

According to Spoiler TV, the first episode of the ninth season of CSI is called “For Warrick” and finds the team mourning for their fallen friend. Unknown to the team the killer, the Undersheriff, investigates Warrick's murder. Meanwhile, Conrad Ecklie (Marc Vann) hires a new CSI in the form of Bryce Adams (Lauren Lee Smith).

"We thought that if we ever lost Warrick, this was the way he would go. Warrick's a local guy. The only family he had was Grissom and the team, so this was not a guy who was going to leave Las Vegas or CSI. We knew where we were going with Warrick long before Gary went to the Coachella music festival, and that it would be truly classic battle-to the death. I think you will see that Undersheriff McKeen will be one of the most worthy adversaries that the team has ever gone up against because he is so smart, because he is so trained, and he can think of all the angles,” Mendelsohn told TV Guide.

Sara (Jorja Fox), as reported previously, will return in this episode when she hears the news about Warrick.

“The premiere is the last time you will probably see our entire cast together. Our original cast. And that means Sara Sidle as well," she added.

“For Warrick” is expected to air on September 25 on CBS.

a few details about their new partnership, and as promised, I worked in as many of your questions as I could.

Fishburne's character has no name yet, but according to the executive producers, "Our internal code name for the character is the Professor."
(Ooh! Maybe the Skipper and his little buddy come, too? )They're totally soliciting suggestions for character names, so sound off in the comments below.
Fishburne is cool. (In case you couldn't guess that from the past 25 years of his career): "Do not mistake my presence for the event," he said. "The event is CSI the show. Everyone brings their unique talents to the show, and that's what I'm going to do."
According to Naren Shankar, the Professor's background is in research pathology. He's been forced out of that career, so he's become an itinerant college lecturer. He's teaching a course in criminalistics when he gets involved in an investigation—and, naturally, the ground-floor qualification for being a CSI is a background in science.
Grissom (William Petersen) and the Professor will overlap, working on a case investigation together throughout episodes nine and 10. According to the exec producers, Fishburne is schedule to start shooting on Sept. 17 or 18, and his first appearance is scheduled for Dec. 11...or early 2009, depending on how the schedule shakes out.
Said Naren: "It takes a special personality to be willing to start new—to a place where you're not in charge of everything—and start over. It's an interesting place to be," for both the writers and the actor. "And the character will feel very at home in the bowels of the coroner's office, a little more comfortable than he feels in the halls of the CSI office."

OUR GANG

With Grissom gone, Willows (Marg Helgenberger) will be supervising the team, with assistance from "CSI3" (senior CSI) Nick Stokes (George Eads). Fishburne's character will be joining the team as a "CSI1" (baby CSI). As Carol put it, "[Willows and Stokes] are the natural people to lead the team."
Will Grissom be killed off or is he just riding off in to the sunset? Per Carol Mendelson, "We're not going to tell you how he's leaving." I'll go dollars to doughnuts on the sunset ride, but we'll see.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Laurence Fishburne is in talks to replace William Petersen as the star of CBS' veteran crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."
The search for a new lead has been shrouded in secrecy, but sources say Fishburne is being heavily courted to play the new character, described as a doctor/scientist outsider to
the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn't previously acted on any homicidal impulses.
Fishburne, an Oscar nominee for "What's Love Got to Do With It," had been mentioned as one of the "CSI" producers' top choices for the role, along with John Malkovich and Kurt Russell.

After years of stability in its lead cast, “CSI” has been rocked by a series of cast changes in the last year or so.
The biggest, of course, is the departure of William Petersen as lead investigator Gil Grissom after Episode 10 of the new season of the hit CBS show. He may return to the show on an occasional basis, but the actor has other projects on the horizon, including a production of “Dublin Carol” at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre this fall.
To fill out the cast, “CSI” will be adding a new character, a doctor with an intriguing backstory who’ll eventually take charge of the investigative unit. I asked executive producer Naren Shankar about what the future held for the show. First I’ll list the newsy bullet points of that conversation, with a longer explanation of the new “CSI” character following that.

Episode 5 will feature the return of dominatrix Lady Heather (Melinda Clarke). “Grissom spends the night,” Shankar said. “I’m not saying what he’s doing there overnight. Let me tell you, it’ll be by far the most provocative Lady Heather episode we’ve ever done.”

Episode 7 will revolve around Natalie, the Miniature Killer.

For the 200th episode, director William Friedkin is coming back to direct an episode of the show.

Jorja Fox is back as Sara Sidle in the first two episodes, and she’ll be back for several episodes later in the season.

Petersen will remain an executive producer on the show and “if [a] story line creatively needs Grissom then he’s totally willing to come back and do it,” Shankar said.

Here’s Shankar’s take on the new “CSI” character. When I told him that one reporter had characterized it as – possibly – “serial killer joins ‘CSI,’” he smiled and said, “it’s really not that at all.”
“What [CBS president] Nina [Tassler] was really getting at [when she talked about the character] was that the new character has a genetic complex, a number of different genes and elements, that have been correlated with criminal behavior.” This man becomes involved with the “CSI” unit over the course of an investigation, as an expert witness. “He’s an academic, he has a background in clinical pathology,” Shankar said.
Through his exposure to the world of criminal investigations and forensics, “he decides that this might be an interesting way to explore himself. He feels that if he has these genetic tendencies, maybe a way to see …if he has the ability [to become] a criminal -- a way to look at it is by understanding and studying violent criminals, what they do and why they do it. In a sense it’s like holding up a mirror to himself, but in an exciting and interesting way -- it’s a new career. That’s really the angle we’re going with,” Shankar said.
I asked if the new character had actually done anything that made him think he may have criminal tendencies.
“You know, we haven’t gotten to that level of really kind of nailing down the guy. It’s really about a guy exploring who he is, trying to use the world of solving murders and violent killers to understand his own soul,” Shankar said.
Other reporters in the CBS session with Tassler brought up the idea that the story line sounds like it might have been influence by “Dexter.”
“I love ‘Dexter,’ I absolutely adore it,” Shankar said. “To me, ‘Dexter’ is not a about a guy who’s trying to decide if he’s a serial killer. He is a serial killer. To me, ‘Dexter’ is about a guy who’s trying to decide if he’s a human being. It’s actually the exact opposite” of the “CSI” story line. “Our guy is not that guy.”
“Our feeling is, and you never really know til you actually cast it, is that he’s going to a more volatile, maybe a little less predictable character than Grissom. But again, this is in the very early stages,” he added.
Shankar couldn’t address what actors the show was approaching to take the role, except to confirm that the show had approached John Malkovich but that didn’t work out.
He said they were planning on the character joining the show in Episode 9 of the new season, so that the new guy and Petersen could interact for at least two episodes. They have around a month or a month and a half to find the actor who’ll join the show, he said.
Shankar said that the first four episodes of the new season have already been shot, and that the show will start up production in mid-August with Episode 5.
I asked if he was worried about alienating any segments of the passionate “CSI” fan base with any of the episodes or story arcs for the new season or with the changes in the cast.
“There’s a whole segment of the fan base that goes crazy over this [personal] stuff, then a whole segment of the fan base that doesn’t want that stuff at all. ‘I don’t care about Grissom and whoever, I just want a good mystery,’” Shankar said. “You can never make everyone happy and if you try to you're bound to fail. All you can try to do is tell a great mystery week after week after week.”
“Unlike a lot of shows that get very deep into their run, we try so hard to remember what we are, to never forget what we are. We are not going to become a soap opera. We are not going to change, for lack of a better term, the DNA of what the show is. Because what we are at its heart is a crime-solving mystery/forensics drama. That is what we are, down to the tiniest molecule of what the show is,” he said.

An old friend returns.
According to Ausiello, when Lady Heather returns to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in season nine, she and Gil Grissom will be very close. "This will be the most intimate that we have seen them," said executive producer Naren Shankar. Shankar's fellow executive producer Carol Mendelsohn elaborated. "Grissom will go to bed at Lady Heather's," she explained. "Whether he will go to bed with Lady Heather remains to be seen. But Grissom will spend most of that episode at Lady Heather's." TV Guide's Matt Roush got a sneak peek at the upcoming premiere for CSI's ninth season. While Roush didn't give details about the premiere, he did give his opinion on the episode and the show's lead actor. "I was more than satisfied and even more impressed than usual by Petersen's performance and by the way the script and the show deals with the fallout of what happens to Warrick Brown," Roush said. "It's pretty intense," Roush continued, "and the return of Sara Sidle adds even more emotional weight to the episode." Roush also commented on the premiere regarding the upcoming reduction of Petersen's role on the show. "[I] can't say how far they'll continue to explore Grissom's psyche in his remaining episodes as a series regular, but they're off to a promising start," he said. 'CSI' may have influenced man's death, police say ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (AP) -- It looked like something out of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." And sure enough, it was. State police said Wednesday that they solved a mysterious eastern New Mexico shooting death that was similar to a shooting depicted in a 2003 "CSI" episode. In both cases, a revolver was found tied to balloons in an apparent effort to make the weapon float away. Authorities determined that Thomas Hickman committed suicide after an investigation that included a detective renting a copy of the episode. "We're not saying it's a copycat of the TV show," state police Lt. Rick Anglada said. "We have no way to know he actually saw the episode. However, the lead agent kept hearing from people that there was a similar case from 'CSI.' "At first, investigators suspected homicide when Hickman, 55, of North Richland Hills, Texas, was found dead March 15 along U.S. 84 southeast of Santa Rosa, his mouth covered by duct tape. Evidence soon directed them elsewhere. The clue that linked the case to the TV series: six or seven white balloons found entangled in a cholla cactus about 30 feet from the body. So the detective rented the show and took notes."There were similarities in the episode, where a character did tie helium balloons to a gun and hoped it would float away," Anglada said. Medical investigators ruled the death a suicide, Anglada said, and additional evidence led detectives to conclude that the scene had been intended to look like a homicide. The handgun's grips had been removed and the trigger guard was sawed off, an apparent attempt to lighten the weapon. Anglada said investigators searched the garage of Hickman's home in Texas and found matching metal shavings. Only a single spent shell casing remained in the chamber, Anglada said, and there was no evidence that the 6-foot-6, 260-pound Hickman, a regional manager for Red Lobster restaurants, had resisted his death."There were no signs of a struggle, and he was a large man, not bound in any way," Anglada said. Hickman was last seen two days before his body was found. Investigators believe that he filled the balloons with helium, tied the balloon bouquet to the weapon and then duct-taped his own mouth and shot himself in the back of the head.They also found he held a life insurance policy that would pay his wife $388,000 or double that amount if his death was accidental. "Everything just pointed back to Thomas Hickman killing himself," Anglada said.

William Petersen verlaat CSI. You know that fancy new CSI contract that William Petersen inked last May? Turns out there was a ticking time bomb buried in the fine print:
He'll be gone by midseason! And not "off too do a play" gone like he was back in 2006. No, this season's 10th episode will be his last as a full-time series regular.
"Billy is leaving," confirms the show's executive producer, Carol Mendelsohn. "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer.
And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don't think you've seen the last of Gil Grissom."
Neither does Petersen. In fact, in an exclusive interview conducted on July 11, the eight-year CSI vet seemed almost reluctant to characterize his departure as, um, a departure.
Citing both his ongoing role as an executive producer and his intention to return on occasion as a (very special) guest star, he said, "I'm in a great place in terms of knowing that
I'll be more free to make choices. And I'm responsible enough to not do it in a way that would hurt [the show].
"I want it to work for the writers, I want it to work for the cast, and, most importantly, I want it to work for the audience," he added. "I don't want them to abandon the show."
CBS has to be concerned about that, too. Although no one expects ratings to nosedive when Petersen leaves, the network's top-rated show is staring down its biggest challenge ever.
His sorta swan song, coupled with Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan's exits last season, brings to three the number of original cast members CSI will have lost in a year's time.
"This will be a year of transition for the show," concedes Mendehlson. "We always knew it was coming, and I'm glad it didn't come until now." At this point, she's confident that,
like Law & Order and ER, CSI is a franchise that can weather such cast shifts. "There's never going to be another William Petersen, and there will never be another Jorja Fox,"
she hastens to add. "But we are not out to just replace those actors. We're out to add new characters to the show, and the show will change as a result. But that's a good thing."

so too is it for Grissom. The events of last season's finale -- specifically the death of Dourdan's Warrick -- will push Grissom to the breaking point. "The easiest way to describe Grissom is 'in crisis,'
" Petersen told me. "As a man. As a scientist. As a teacher. As a middle-aged person who has been very successful at what he's done... [he] wonders, 'What's the point?'
"It's all of a sudden becoming more difficult for him to do his job," he continued. "What had been a sort of fun job for him to do, because he loved the solving of the riddle,
has become ever more taxing and difficult." Helping Grissom through the crisis will be his true love, Sara, played by Fox, who is returning for multiple episodes, starting with the season premiere.
While Petersen confirms that Sara will figure into Grissom's final arc, he stops just short of saying the couple will ride off into the desert together at the end of episode 10.
"I wouldn't want to say exactly what we're going do -- I want people to watch, certainly," he chuckled. "But Sara is involved... It's often darkest just before the dawn."
And lest anyone read any hidden meaning into that statement, the actor reiterated, "For me, it's a really good situation.
I don't want the audience to think it's not... [It isn't] like there's something going on, like 'Petersen's unhappy,' 'cause it's not true. It's quite the contrary. "
That explains why he's having trouble labeling his departure a... well, you know. "My biggest problem with leaving the show at any point isn't leaving Grissom --
I'm an actor, it's time to do other things," said the stage vet, whose first post-CSI gig will be a return to the theater -- and to Connor McPherson's play, A Dublin Carol --
this fall in his hometown of Chicago. "[The hard part will be saying goodbye] to the cast and crew. [So] I'm going to stay as involved as I'm allowed to be throughout the remainder of this show.
Until they turn off all the lights."

Petersen Gets A Star. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's William Petersen (Gil Grissom) is one of 25 celebrities who will be immortalized on the Walk of Fame next year.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame Committee picked the recipients, and the board of directors ratified the list on Thursday.
Also receiving a star next year is Chuck Lorre, executive producer and writer for the CBS comedy Two and a Half Men. Lorre took part in the writing crossover between
Men and CSI, co-writing the CSI "Two and a Half Deaths". episode Petersen will be honored with a star on the Walk of Fame, and his series has earned an honor of its own.
While CSI failed to beat Desperate Housewives to become the best scripted show in America, the forensic drama holds the title of most popular series in the world.
Nearly 84 million viewers tuned in during 2007, putting CSI ahead of spinoff CSI: Miami and FOX's House.

he said, "happy at home and fulfilled by challenging work." The playwright and screenwriter said that writing is what he always wanted to do.
"Before writing, I had been an actor, a musician, a singer, an office assistant and a salesman," he explained. "All of that experience informs my writing today." -
"We generally discuss the story for about a week, sometimes two weeks. Then the writer has a week to craft the screenplay. That's followed by about another week of
rewriting before the episode is filmed," Rambo said, explaining the process of creating an episode of the forensic drama. He went on to say,
"Anything can be an inspiration for an episode of CSI. Sometimes we draw from crimes that we have read about or seen on TV. Most of the time, however, one of us will say,
'What if...?' and we all start contributing ideas." - "The fans discovered CSI and made it a hit when all the industry experts said the show wouldn't last," Rambo said.
"I'm so grateful to them. While it's impossible to answer every email and letter I receive, I do try to let the fans know that I appreciate their support of the show.
" He gave members of the GSR board a hint about the upcoming season: "Don't miss the Season 9 premiere. Sara Sidle is there, and Grissom's glad to see her."

What George says: George Eads has been playing Nick Stokes on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation since the show first began eight years ago.
Eads is still positive about his presence on set and his character. "I kinda took it as a personal challenge to evolve, to mature, to show change," Eads said in a press conference.
"Every scene I do, I try to improve and make it better than my last." Eads described himself as passionate, saying that he truly loves his job.
Eads admits that he partly models his character on his father, who was a district attorney for 28 years, and that had a profound effect on Eads.
But what does George Eads want to see happen in Nick Stokes life this coming season?? "I just want him to continue to exude strength of character,
" he said, but pointed out that it is ultimately up to the writers.

Eads also spoke about change on the show, saying that it can be scary. "Some of our characters are leaving," he explained. Eads also pointed out,
"Grissom has got a short shelf life, and he's been my mentor both on the show and away from the show." However, it isn't just about who is departing.
"Maybe the introduction of some new characters will help spice things up [and] keep it fresh," the actor suggested.
"I'm so proud of the fact that our show has spawned more scripted drama," The show has had other effects as well. Eads spoke about the ability to evoke emotion from the
audience--and from himself. "I watched the final episode of season eight for us, and I found myself sobbing," he explained. "It was so emotional that I don't think there's anything
else that can evoke a good cry in me like that, you know. I felt better after it."

Once he is done with CSI, (lets hope that’s not soon) he plans to keep moving onward and upward. "It's the tip of the iceberg of what I want to do professionally," he explained.
"I want to produce, I want to direct, I want to make film."

Geen CSI's meer van UNLV: The only public university in Las Vegas won't be producing any more crime scene investigators.
With the success of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) opened a forensic science program to take advantage of the interest spawned by the series.
However, students at the university will no longer be able to study to be a CSI. After less than five years, the program is being shut down. The program generated publicity for the university,
but money is a problem. UNLV doesn't have the funds to hire the director and faculty members needed to work toward accreditation. "The decision needed to be made,
" Michael Bowers, vice provost for academic affairs, told the Las Vegas Sun, "whether we were going to allow it to continue to limp along in its present state or whether we were going to phase
it out or sink the resources into it to make it the robust program that it needed to be." The loss of the program is a shame, says Randy McLaughlin, the acting director of
crime scene investigation for the Metro Police. "It's unfortunate," he explained. "We want to train our own and recruit our own from our area ... People that grew up here,
people that were raised here, are more likely to stay around and contribute to the community." Even though UNLV will phase out the program,

Gary Dourdan aka Warrick Brown is joining the troubled stars on the second season of hard-hitting US reality show Celebrity Rehab With Dr Drew, according to reports.
The actor was arrested in California in April after police found drugs in his car. He agreed a deal in court requiring him pay a GBP2,500 fine and to complete a 16-class drug program.
According to the National Enquirer, producers of the show approached Dourdan shortly after the plea bargain and asked him to take part in the series - and he agreed.
A source tells the tabloid, "Gary knows he screwed up, but he wants to stay in the public eye. He didn't think twice about doing the show. He's used to being on TV."
A spokesperson for the show refused to confirm Dourdan's involvement.
It is rumoured he will join Rod Stewart's son Sean, singer Tawny Kitaen, Grease star Jeff Conaway and rocker Steve Adler in rehab.
The 21-day program, lead by Dr. Drew Pinsky, will air in October. Filming began on Monday.

The contract between the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) runs out June 30.
Negotiations are continuing, but it is unclear whether a deal will be reached before the deadline. SAG's national executive director Doug Allen stated in an e-mail that the guild would like
to reach an agreement soon, but they are prepared to extend the negotiations into July. The actors have not yet called for a strike-authorization vote, which would require a 75% majority to pass.
An authorization vote, however, would not guarantee an immediate work stoppage. The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), who have bargained jointly with SAG
for 27 years, suspended that agreement and negotiated with the producers on its own. AFTRA reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP on May 28, and the results of the ratification
vote are due on July 9. SAG has put pressure on AFTRA, and even if the deal is ratified, there are questions about whether AFTRA actors would work during a SAG strike. Some television series,
such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: New York and New York's lead in Criminal Minds, will have episodes filmed by the time the SAG contract runs out. Other popular series,
including CSI: Miami and CSI's competitor Grey's Anatomy, will not have any finished episodes in the can in case of a work stoppage. The networks might push the start of the fall season

Sara is coming back. Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) bid farewell to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after the episode "Goodbye and Good Luck" midway through season eight.
Fox said she would return to the show at some point, but she could not reveal when that would be. It was later stated that Sara wouldn't be back in season eight.
Ausiello is now reporting that Sara's return will happen sooner than expected. Fox has signed a deal to appear in the season nine premiere this fall. Ausiello confirmed that Fox
"won't be appearing in a flashback." The specific details of the comeback, however, are unclear. Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), who was shot in the season finale,

CSI boss Carol Mendelsohn wasn't pulling my leg when she told me last October that we haven't seen the last of Sara Sidle.
Sources confirm that Jorja Fox has inked a deal to return for the show's ninth-season premiere next fall.

Specifics of her comeback are being kept under lock and key, but my CSI mole assures me that she "won't be appearing in a flashback."
The likely scenario has Sara returning to Vegas to shag Grissom mourn ex-colleague Warrick, who was shot (and presumably)
killed in last week's finale. I say "presumably" because in the current issue of TV Guide, Mendelsohn says Gary Dourdan will be back in the fall — and "not just in flashbacks."

I've got three words for you: Gut-wrenching death scene.

Lauren Lee Smith joins the cast of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION next season as a series regular.

She will play CSI Bryce Adams, a smart, flirtatious, and witty non-conformist who entered law enforcement to rebel against her judgmental psychiatrist father.
She has always been fascinated by the perverse underbelly of society and cannot be shocked or intimidated. She will be hired onto Grissom's night shift team.

Lauren Lee Smith was first discovered out of Vancouver, Canada when she was cast into Showtime's "The L-Word." Lauren then went on co-star in "Art School Confidential"
opposite Max Minghella, and received critical praise and attention from her performance in the independent film "Lie with Me." Lauren also co-starred opposite Casey Affleck

Gilbert Grissom en Sara Sidle ontmoette elkaar voor het eerst in San Francisco toen Grissom daar een forensisch seminar gaf. Sara was zijn student of zoals zij het een keer noemde zijn ster pupil. Deze ontmoeting was als het goed is een jaar voordat Grissom Sara naar Las Vegas haalde om voor hem te komen werken, dit was in de aflevering 1x2 cool change. Vanaf het moment dat Grissom zich omdraait begint de lange weg die Grissom en Sara moeten afleggen om samen te zijn.

Ondanks dat het koppel er hevig op los flirtte in seizoen 1 en 2 ging het allemaal niet erg vlot. De schrijvers en William Petersen stelde voor om het personage van Grissom bang te laten zijnom zich open te stellen voor een relatie met Sara, maar dat hij ook niet wilde datzij van hem ontglipte. Wanneer ze besloot om verder te gaan met Hank Pedigrew, (de ambulance broeder waarmee Sara uitging in seizoen 3) ontaarde dit zich in spaningen in hun vriendschap.
In de aflevering invisible evidence werd het duidelijkdat de wederzijdse aantrekkingskracht zich in hun werk mengde en Grissom zich bijna verloor in het moment totdat Sara hem herinnerde aan haar aankomende promotie, op dit moment realiseerde hij zich hoever hij bijna was gegaan met haar midden in het lab.

In de aflevering Butterflied kreeg de kijker eindelijk een beeld van de gevoelens die Grissom had voor Sara. Omdat het slachtoffer sterk leek op Sara raakte Grissom erg betrokken bij het onderzoek zodat hij zelfs begon te halucineren over Sara en opbiechte aan de vermoedelijke moordenaar dr. Vincent Lurie dat hij nooit het risico zou kunnen nemen om een relatie te beginnen met iemand jong en mooi en zo alles te verliezen waar hij voor gewerkt had. Op het moment dat Grissom dit zegt staat Sara aan de andere kant van het raam naar het verhoor te luisteren en hoort wat Grissom werkelijk voor haar voelt.
Het vierde seizoen eindigde met de aflevering Bloodlines waarin Sara aan de kant werd gehaald omdat ze te veel had gedronken. Grissom werd gebeld, kwam naar het bureua, pakte haar hand vast en bracht haar naar huis.
De aanhouding van Sara bracht een soort van wapenstilstand en verbetering in hun vriendschap. en in seizoen 5 zagen we dat Sara tot termen kwam met haar gevoelens voor Grissom en geen verwachtingen meer had dit is goed te zien in de aflevering Snakes. Grissom realiseerde zich dat hij moest stoppen met zijn onzekerheden en vrees voor Sara. (dit zagen we ook in de aflevering Snakes waarin Grissom zegt let's.. maar word middenin zijn zin onderbroken door Sara)
Na de aanvaring van Sara met Ecklie en Catharine, bezoekt Grissom Sara thuis in haar apartement en verteld zij hem over haar verleden. Dit was een erg emotionele scene, Grissom scheen op het punt om een traantje te laten vallen terwijl Sara hard huilde. Grissom stelde haar ook in deze scene op haar gemak door haar hand vast te pakken. Later stond Grissom voor haar op tegenover Ecklie door hem te vertellen dat hij haar niet ontslaat en haar nodig heeft.
In het vervolg van seizoen 5 zagen we derde personages zich mengen in hun vriendschap Sofia Curtis aan de kant van Grissom en Greg aan de kant van Sara, maar dit zette zich niet voort. In de aflevering Committed keek Grissom machteloos toe toen een psychiatrische patient Sara gijzelde en bijna haar keel door sneed. Hun vriendschap werd na deze aflevering en in seizoen 6 vlot en luchthartig met de meeste angst en problemen verdwenen.

Buiten de paar flirterige blikken waren er in seizoen 6 geen echte GSR momenten. Tot de aflevering Time of your death waar Grissom en Sara veelbelovende blikken uitwisselen met elkaar. Twee afleveringen later zien we dat het koppel een relatie heeft door de scene in Sara's slaapkamer aan het einde van Way to go.
Door deze scene was GSR dan toch nog eindelijk canon en werd gevierd door miljoenen kijkers die geduldig hadden gewacht op dit moment sinds het begin van de serie.
Wanneer Sara en Grissom nu precies echt een relatie zijn begonnen is tot op heden niet bekend.

In seizoen 7 krijgen we kleine stukjes te zien van de relatie tussen Grissom en Sara en de liefde die ze hebben voor elkaar. In eerste instantie houden ze hun relatie geheim maar in de laatste aflevering van seizoen 7 biecht Grissom op aan het team over zijn ware gevoelens voor Sara als zij is ontvoerd door de Miniatuur moordenaar Nathalie Davis.

"The Guy with All Answers" – In a short interview for the Brazilian GSR Board, David Rambo talk a little bit about who is he, about his work, and about future projects.

BGSRB – Who is David Rambo? Define yourself.

DR - I'm a playwright and screenwriter. My motto is "Read, travel, question, listen." I consider myself an incredibly lucky man, happy at home and fulfilled by challenging work.

BGSRB – Do what you love in life is essencial, when did you found that be writter it was your way of life?

DR - Yes, once I started writing, I felt that I was at last doing what I'd always wanted. Before writing, I had been an actor, a musician, a singer, an office assistant and a salesman. All of that experience informs my writing today.

BGSRB – You wrote the play "The Lady With All Answers" , how was this experience, it was the first in theater or you have other projects to come?

DR - I'm the author of several plays. In fact, I came to CSI because William Petersen wanted to add a playwright to the writing staff.

BGSRB – How much time a tv writter need to developed a screenplay for one episode?

DR - We generally discuss the story for about a week, sometimes two weeks. Then the writer has a week to craft the screenplay. That's followed by about another week of rewriting before the episode is filmed.

BGSRB – What inspire you to create a screenplay?

DR - Anything can be an inspiration for an episode of CSI. Sometimes we draw from crimes that we have read about or seen on TV. Most of the time, however, one of us will say, "What if...?" and we all start contributing ideas.

BGSRB – How was write for a tv show like CSI? How was your beggining on this project?

DR - My first episode of CSI was "Butterflied." I had never written for TV before. The producers invited me in several weeks early to participate in the creation of "Jackpot," so that I would understand how to write for TV a bit better. The rewriting of "Butterflied' was arduous, but I enjoyed it tremendously. More importantly, I learned so much from Anthony Zuiker and Carol Mendelsohn as we worked. I was on the set for every day of filming. The actors and director were extremely collaborative and asked me for a lot of input. It was a great experience that led to being hired on the writing staff the following season.

BGSRB – How is define the themes for the episodes? Did you made some kind os research about the subject? How it works?

DR - The writers talk about theme a lot. We have two technical advisors and two researchers available to us. The technical advisors have been real-life CSIs, so they help to keep our work authentic.

BGSRB – "Butterflied" is one of the favorite episodes from fans of CSI, specially for the GSR fans, what inspire you to wrote this episode?

DR - "Butterflied" started out to be a two-character episode: just Grissom and Catherine and the dead girl. As we continued to craft the story, it evolved into the complex and psychologically probing story that we all now know. It was very much a team effort; ideas that ended up on the screen came from many sources, including the other writers and also Billy and Jorja.

BGSRB – How was your relationship with fans, how you deal with the admiration of them?

DR - The fans discovered CSI and made it a hit when all the industry experts said the show wouldn't last. I'm so grateful to them. While it's impossible to answer every email and letter I receive, I do try to let the fans know that I appreciate their support of the show. The girls from Brasil are fantastic! They even remembered my birthday!

BGSRB – We know that sometimes, the exposion on mídia, and the pression of work tired out, on your free time, how you relax?

DR - I love to travel. I read a great deal; I enjoy cooking, and attending the theatre and concerts. Exercise and yoga help, too.

BGSRG – If you could choose someone to work or create a character, who will be and why?

DR - I'm not sure I understand the question, but if you're asking which actors I would like to create characters for, there are too many to mention. I love actors and what they bring to a script. I've been fortunate to work with some legendary actors such as Kirk Douglas, Angela Lansbury, Anjelica Huston, Sir Ben Kingsley, Stockard Channing and others. CSI has given me the opportunity to work with the amazing regular cast, and also Liev Schreiber, Faye Dunaway and many more I've long admired.

BGSRG – Who or what is your inspiration when you write?

DR - This may sound bizarre, but I find inspiration in quiet. It's impossible for me to write well amid noise.

BGSRB – If you could define this moment in your life in one single sentence, what will be?

DR - This is the best time.

BGSRG – David thank you very much for your attention, and for this amazing interview. Many fans will be happy knowing a little more about you. Now a last request, could you send a special message for the fans from Brazilian GSR Board?

Warrick, Catherine en Nick proberen vast te stellen hoe een brand heeft kunnen ontstaan waarbij een tiener-meisje is omgekomen. Grissom en Sara onderzoeken de dood van een man die meedeed aan een Scrabbletoernooi. In zijn maag worden verschillende letters gevonden.	Tijdens een picknick in het park raakt een moeder haar zoon kwijt. Het team gaat op zoek en vindt een spoor dat leidt naar een echtpaar. Zij beweren de ouders te zijn van de vermiste jongen en DNA staaft hun bewering. De verdenking valt nu op de moeder, maar ook haar DNA wijst uit dat ze een zoon heeft.

Biografie: Grissom heeft de leiding over de nachtdiensten van het Clark County, Nevada CSI team, dat veel zaken in en rond Las Vegas onderzoekt. Hij is een forensisch entomoloog die onder andere biologie heeft gestudeerd aan de UCLA. Hij heeft uitgebreide kennis van insecten en entomologie, waar hij bij zijn onderzoek gebruik van maakt. Dit heeft hem ook de bijnaam "The Bug Man" (De Kever Man) opgeleverd. Op de vraag waarom hij een CSI is geworden is zijn antwoord steevast "Because the dead can't speak for themselves" (omdat de doden niet zelf kunnen praten). Dit is tevens een van zijn bekendste uitspraken.

Zijn emotieloze houding en hoge intellect werken vaak in zijn voordeel, zowel bij zijn werk als zijn persoonlijke leven. Echter, zijn pogingen om baan politiek (en vooral papierwerk) te ontlopen vervreemdt hem van zijn meerderen. Zijn rechterhand, Catherine Willows, moet hem dan ook geregeld aansporen dit soort taken (zoals werknemersevaluatie) uit te voeren. Grissom stoort zich maar zelden aan de vele subculturen waar zijn baan hem mee in contact brengt. Hij haat huiselijk geweld, gewelddadige echtgenoten, kinderverkrachters en drugsdealers. Hij heeft ook een afkeer van overmatig geweld en gebruikt niet graag zijn vuurwapen, iets dat zijn vriend en agent Jim Brass nog wel eens dwars zit. Hoewel hij zijn vuurwapen nauwelijks gebruikt is Grissom wel een uitstekende schutter, zoals te zien is in aflevering 402, "All For Our Country," waar hij op de schietbaan zijn kunsten vertoont. Grissoms hobby's zijn onder andere zijn werk, kakkerlakraces, lezen, kruiswoordpuzzels oplossen en in rollercoasters rijden.
Grissom heeft altijd een aantal “vreemde” voorwerpen in zijn kantoor waaronder een tarantula. Hij heeft ook een visvormig prikbord waarop hij de niet opgeloste zaken uitstalt. Hij houdt ook vaak bewijzen van gesloten zaken bij zich.
Grissom vertoont soms gelijkenissen met Sherlock Holmes. Net als Sherlock is Grissom vaak emotieloos en richt zich strikt op logica met maar weinig aandacht voor sociale normen van gedrag (hij gooide een keer een paar mosterdpotjes in een supermarkt kapot om een theorie te tonen, aflevering 111, "I-15 Murders"). Net als Sherlock heeft hij een Moriartyachtige vijand in de gedaante van Paul Millander.
Grissom leest veel en gebruikt vaak citaten uit de boeken die hij gelezen heeft, voornamelijk Shakespeare. Hij werkt daarnaast aan geavanceerde kruiswoordpuzzels en luistert naar luide klassieke muziek en opera in zijn kantoor, voornamelijk als hij wil nadenken.
In 2007 nam Grissom vier weken vrij om les te geven aan Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Kort daarvoor vertoonde hij tekenen van een burn-out.

Er is niet veel bekend over Grissoms verleden en persoonlijke leven. Hij groeide op in Marina Del Rey, California. Zijn vader, die in de import/export zaken zat, stierf toen Grissom negen was. De doodsoorzaak was waarschijnlijk een zonnesteek. Grissoms moeder runde een kunstgalerie in Venetië.
Grissom werd opgevoed als een Rooms-Katholiek maar zei zelf dat “die schuld niet langer onderdeel van zijn leven is”. In de seizoen 7 aflevering "Double-Cross," vertelt hij Sara Sidle dat, hoewel hij niet echt meer Katholiek is, hij nog wel een “seculiere katholiek" is die zijn werk vaak een diepere betekenis geeft dan de meeste anderen. Hij gelooft ook nog altijd in God.
Grissoms moeder is doof. Hierdoor kent Grissom ook gebarentaal (aflevering 120, "Sounds of Silence"). Grissom heeft van zijn moeder Otosclerose geërfd, een ziekte die hem langzaam doof maakte. Grissom onderging echter een operatie om dit tegen te gaan (aflevering 323, "Inside the Box").

Grissom heeft lange tijd geen relatie. Grissom heeft ooit een paar keer een date gehad met forensisch antropoloog Terri Miller (aflevering 114, "To Halve and to Hold") en geflirt met S&M parlor operator Lady Heather.
Aan het einde van seizoen 6 leek Grissom een relatie te hebben met Sara Sidle, hoewel dit niet direct duidelijk werd. Ze hielden dit in het zevende seizoen in eerste instantie geheim voor de rest van de crew, die echter wel iets beginnen te vermoeden. In het achtste seizoen vroeg Grissom Sara zelfs ten huwelijk. Ze accepteerde, maar tot een huwelijk kwam het niet omdat Sara besloot het team te verlaten na haar ervaringen met de schaalmodelmoordenaar.
Van al zijn mede inspecteurs lijkt Grissom nog wel het meest op Sara Sidle. Beide zijn “wetenschapsnerds” zoals ze het zelf noemen. De twee hebben tevens een relatie, al probeerden ze dit geheim te houden voor de rest.
De meeste mensen noemen Grissom bij zijn achternaam, maar Catherine Willows, Dr. Al Robbins, en Conrad Ecklie noemen hem gewoon "Gil," Warrick Brown gebruikt de verkorte vorm "Griss" en Sara Sidle noemt hem in de laatste aflevering van seizoen 7 een keer Gilbert als ze de telefoon opneemt.
